Location: The Briggait, 141 Bridgegate Street, Glasgow

a bowl : a boat (May we always have enough to share) is an exhibition of paintings on linen and instant film by Glasgow-based contemporary artist Sarah Kudirka. It is her first solo show in Scotland.

Filling two high-ceilinged galleries with bowls:boats and shell-like forms, the show about our human capacity for empathy and compassion towards those who journey across water notably in small boats.

Kudirka's abstracted bowl:boat and shell-like motifs are self-evident but layered with meaning. A drawing of a shallow bowl resembles a simple boat. A bowl is a rudimentary piece of design but it allows us to gather, prepare, store and share food and water.

The show features Kudirka’s largest work to date; a striking 3.7metre-high triptych, along with many of her latest semi-abstract boat:bowl and shell-like images and bright oil sketches on recycled instantfilm.

Open to the public 10 to 5:30, Monday to Friday - or by appointment - until 6 March
